Many of the roads known originally as Route 66 have been changed to other names, causing much of the road to lose its former identity. In many areas, the roads lead into several different directions which are dependent on the year of design.
Although you can still drive most of the original route from Chicago to California, sometimes it is hidden below the weeds, dirt, or even under the pavement you may be driving on.
By spending some time researching and planning, you should be assured the most enjoyable trip on Route 66.
